Xavier Blondeau (France) has always been interested in science and photography. He works as Senior Lecturer at the University of Cergy-Pontoise and although he is an academic with scientific training, holding a PhD in biochemistry, 10 years ago Blondeau began designing, overseeing and delivering training programs on digital multimedia.
Through his powerful and lyric photography, exploring vast desertic places, Xavier Blondeau “has been questioning the place of individuals in their environment. Since 2009 and apart from his activity as a teacher and a researcher, Xavier Blondeau has focused his photographic work on the individual.
[…] His work is about intimacy being revealed as his various photographic series unfold” (Nancy Meyer, curator of contemporary Art L.A County Museum of Art).
His series “Shadowy Presence” is focused on urban surroundings at night. Those universes, though stripped of human presence, yet inexorably loop back to Man. As if the artificial environment he has built, which seems to contradict his human nature, still left its unwavering stamp.
Since 2011, he has been very active and present in many collective exhibitions and fairs such as: Rencontres internationales de la Photograhie, Tunisia (2015); International Juried Competition, USA (2014); Manifestation d’Art Contemporain Mac2000, France (2014); International Print Biennale, UK (2014); Puls’Art, France (2014); Biennale Internationale d’Art Contemporain, Spain (2013); Biennale Européenne d’Art Contemporain, France (2013); etc.
