Turi Avola was born in Herford (Germany) and moved back to Italy with his family at young age. This change generated inside him an explosion of creativity having as further result the interest in many art forms.
After the studies, he started a personal research as a self-taught in different kind of arts techniques and composition (oil and acrylic on canvas, ink on paper, collage, photography, set design…) influenced by artists from Dadaism and Surrealism, such as Bellmer, Bacon and Dalì.
His most recent peculiarity is to represent women in surrealistic and dreamy contexts. He’s currently working on a black and white project, with the intent to analyze the multiple game of personality inside us, the inner fight and our ego.
Most of his models are Burlesque performers, performance artists, actresses and dancers met during his nightlife. After passing some time with them, he reaches an emotional synergy which is reused on the stage.
Most of photographies’ scenography is self-made, starting from the research for raw material and specific lightning, and setting up the stage to make each shoot a unique artwork. The essence of each model is caught and also reproduced in an exterior context.
