“Totem” photography series by Raphael Halin, depicts through an essential and gloomy atmosphere, corporate skycrapers as they are monuments and totems of a new religion. These buildings are majestic in their solitude and power.
“99% of people are “on the knees” before the new God of Corporations because Corporations have been fetishised like work and production, in order to ensure profit.
Profit is sacred in capitalism. Human beings are undervalued as religions value Gods and make people simple adorers “on their knees” to this great fetish.”
Raphael Halin was born in 1976 near Paris, and began to take photos in black and white with an old Canon film camera, when he was a student. It was an exhibition of Raymond Depardon (Errance) in “La maison de la photographie” that evoked the desire to take photos.
