Nathalie Pirotte is an artist from Belgium. Her paintings are playfully constructed from a multitude of different sources and genres of pictures.
She recycles and mixes published pictures from magazines, movies, music, spots, any publications that keeps her attention. She can work from personal experiences, as well, or work with models. Nathalie uses computer programs to change and mix those sources.
She uses masks or blindness to talk about the view and viewers. Most of the time, the painting technique is deliberately simple and classic. Very thin layers applied in glazes on paperlike canvas.
Nathalie uses spraypaint too and contrasts it with oilpaint. She likes details of hands posture and hairs, and materials such as leather, laces, furs.
Her favorite subject is the woman and her phantasmagorical world. At the very beginning, this portrait of woman was also for her, a symbolic reference to “the Painting”.
