The exhibition represents a unique opportunity to explore the creative scene in contemporary Poland, not just through the works of the leading Polish artists such as Mirosław Bałka, Zofia Kulik, Zbigniew Libera, Wilhelm Sasnal, Krzysztof Wodiczko and Artur Żmijewski, but also through numerous works by International artists including AES+F, Reza Aramesh, Josef Dabernig, Maya Gold, Krištof Kintera, Sarah Lucas, Shahar Marcus, Muntean/Rosenblum, Shinji Ogawa and Daniel Spoerri, together capable of assembling a comprehensive overview of art in Poland in recent decades.

Through its extensive collection (over 4,800 works by 270 artists from 35 countries), MOCAK is continuously working to introduce the public to contemporary creativity, combatting the false belief that art necessarily has to be pleasant and decorative, on the contrary supporting its provocative role in questioning traditional values. MOCAK’s two principal objectives are to present the art of the last few decades within the context of the post-war avant-garde and conceptualism and to explore the issue of what its means to make art today.
