The PhotoPhore is proud to be partner of */ Athens Digital Arts Festival 2016 (ADAF). The 12th edition of ADAF will take place from 19 to 22 of May 2016 at the historic center of Athens. The main venue of the Festival will be the Building Complex Gate Ermou 117 – 121.
Under the theme of Digital Pop, ADAF 2016 aims to capture the different aspects of Pop in the digital era and to explore how our increasing engagement with new technologies and the Internet has generated new trends and habits.
Pop is characterized by the culture of “here and now“. Nowadays, Pop may be as well defined by likes, shares, tweets, views or followers showing in a way the power of the people to decide about trends and attitudes but also highlighting the ephemerality of it, as the culture around us is changing at high speed. In that sense, we might as well say that what is considered Pop in 2015 might be outdated in 2016 and so on.
The open call for artists received an exciting response by the local and international artistic community, with 2.284 submitted proposals from 88 countries. The 12th edition of Athens Digital Arts Festival will present interactive works, audiovisual installations, video art, web art, digital image, creative workshops for adults and kids, artists’ talks, presentations of international festivals, AV performances and music events, highlighting the developments in new technologies and artistic practices.
