Anton Marrast is a Russian illustrator and digital artist from Barcelona, who creates surrealist characters and stories, inspired by his life and feelings. He defines his style as “psychedelic surrealism“.
The series “Slow Story” is about the love relationship between two young cyclopes. The works are characterized by minimal and defined lines, with the only use of black and grey colours, and austere style. With dynamic graphic illustrations, his characters makes their way through intriguing and often evocative narratives.
Anton makes most of his art in a reverse process. Most of his pictures were created from a lack of ideas. He used to stare for a few hours at a photo with one lonely thought in his head: “I need to do something with this”. He has a picture first, than he tries to do something interesting with it.
The diversity of his creations is a reflection of his willingness to explore and master a wide range of techniques and styles. Anton likes working with devices such as pens, paper, pencils, markers and mixing up paper drawings with digital media.
