Lola Dupré is a collage artist and illustrator currently based in Badajoz, Spain. Working exclusively with paper and scissors her work references both the Dada aesthetic of the early 20th Century and the digital manipulations of the present day.
She started working with papier-mache, making 3D forms, the surface of which was composed of many pieces of paper stuck down upon paper. She has always been very interested in this accidental photomontage and it led her to her first experiments towards the photomontage style that she does today.
For her work, Lola uses multiple prints of the same image, printed on (typically) A4 and A3 paper, generally printing a few different crops of the same image too, so that once they are combined in one piece there are several sizes which can be manipulated together.
The process itself of mapping out, and sticking down each individual piece does take a long time, and her average working time is between 20 and 30 hours per image.
Since 2000 Lola Dupré has lived and worked in Scotland, Switzerland, France, Portugal, Ireland and now Spain. Lola is currently working on upcoming exhibition and editorial projects. Her clients includes Penguin Books, TIME Magazine, Nike Basketball, MAXIM Magazine, Die Welt, New Statesman and BURTON.
