Also taking place within Buy Art Fair is The Manchester Contemporary, now one of the foremost UK art fairs outside London for world class critically engaged contemporary art.
This year’s enhanced programme will offer more artistic conversation and debate than ever before with events running every day. There will be an exclusive interview with Frank Cohen, renowned as one of the world’s top 200 art collectors. Frank will candidly answer questions about the art of collecting.
The fair will also see the return of In Conversation with Pavel Büchler. Pavel will be talking with Jonathan Watkins, director of Ikon gallery in Birmingham and Kwong Lee, director of Castlefield about reinventing the ‘local artist’.
The headline conference will be ‘Fair Cities: Exploring the Ecology of Art Market Centres’, which seeks to unravel how and why certain cities have become recognised as centres for the Art Market, as well as exploring what kind of Art Market centre Manchester, and more broadly the North West currently is and can become.
Buy Art Fair takes place 23-25 September 2016 at Manchester’s Old Granada Studios with an opening night on 22 September.
