The video SHORE by Paul Windridge is part of a reflective series based on sea and shore. The hypnotic, calming and meditative, rhythms and patterns of the sea. Filmed at Compton Bay Isle of Wight.
Windridge is a video artist, experimental film and music maker, who explores what we perceive to be reality, presenting it as something completely different. His films are multi-layered and reality-distorted; atmospheric and often mesmeric displacements of time and place.
The inclusion of mirrored symmetry creates other dimensions. A mirrored moving image is perfectly balanced, but can also drastically alter the perception of space and time; either turning the action in on itself, or outwards away from itself, depending on the placement of the mirroring.
His Moving image work has been shown in various film and arts festivals including: New York, Paris, St Petersburg, Visionaria (Siena), Berlin and Zurich. It has also been shown in events at Tate Britain, Metropolitan Museum of Art, on BBC Big Screens nationwide, Big Screen Project Manhattan and at BBC Electric Proms.
